Instituto de Pesquisa e Planejamento Urbano e Regional (IPPUR) – Urban and Regional Research and Planning Institute – is an excellence institute in the Urban and Regional Planning and Public Management field linked to Centro de Ciências Jurídicas e Econômicas (CCJE) – Legal and Economics Sciences Center – of Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ).
It comprises two academic programs: Post-Graduation Program in Urban and Regional Planning (PPG-PUR) and the Graduation Course in Public Management for Economic and Social Development (GPDES), besides lato sensu specialization courses.
The Post-Graduation Program in Urban and Regional Planning got score 6 by CAPES, and the Graduation Course in Public Management reached score 4 in the 2018 National Exam of Students’ Performance (Enade 2018).
Its social body encompasses expert professors from several fields in Applied Social Sciences and qualified technicians. It accounts for the education of hundreds of Master and PhD Urban and Regional Planning professionals, Public Managers and experts in the last 50 years, who act in different regions in the country and abroad, in public and private institutions.
Besides its relevant academic and political actions, the Institute is part of important institutions such as Associação Nacional de Planejamento Urbano e Regional (ANPUR) – National Urban and Regional Planning Association- , Associação Nacional de Ensino, Pesquisa e Extensão do Campo de Públicas (ANEPECP) – National Teaching, Research and Public Field Extension Association – and Conselho Latino-Americano de Ciências Sociais (CLACSO) – Latin-American Council of Social Sciences.
Its headquarters is located in the Rectory Building, in UFRJ campus. IPPUR is temporarily performing its activities in the Language Faculty since a fire compromised its facilities in 2016.
